The main objective of the research project was to identify the principles and rules, but also the basic directions and development priorities of the Western Saronic coastal region. More specific objectives were: a) the protection and upgrading of the environment in the coastal zone. (b) safeguarding the public and communal nature of the coastal zone as a recreation-activity area and environmental protection for the wider region. (c) the rationalization of existing uses. The approach followed the logic of the need for a special framework for the design and management of the coastal zone as a site with specific problems and prospects related to those in the wider region of Western Attica (and Attica in general) but require special coordination through the perspective of the integrated management of coastal areas.
