Konstantinos Lalenis

Professor

Konstantinos Lalenis (M.Eng., PhD) is Professor in Urban Planning and Governance, at the Department of Urban Planning and Development (DPRD). He has work experience in both, the public sector (Greek Ministry of Planning), and the private sector (private consultant in Transportation and Urban Planning projects). His experience in administration and governance stems from his positions as a city councillor in the city of Kavala. Greece, as vice president of the Technical Chamber of Greece –sector of East Macedonia, as deputy director of the graduate program of DPRD in urban and regional planning, and as a director of the Planning Department of the Prefecture of kavala, Greece. He also worked as evaluator for the EC for the FP5 programs (City of Tomorrow) and participated in various European projects. He has been awarded by AESOP (Association of European Schools of Planning) Excellence in Teaching Award (2010), and he has won several national awards in planning and architectural competitions. Current research interests include participation and governance issues, planning law and institutional frameworks, planning practices, urban networks, transferability of institutions and practices in the E.U.
